Cat Tien Birding Trails is located in the territory of Cat Tien National Park. This park is estimated as the reserve of natural resources in Vietnam with lots of rare, specious and endemic genes of fauna and flora, as plentiful site for scientists, domestic and foreign tourists. Birders have recorded over 350 species in the park, including many specialties that are easier to find in Cat Tien than in any other park in the region.
Cat Tien Birding Trails offer many KEY birding sites for birders. The most important sites for Birders include:
Crocodile Lake (Bau Sau) belongs to Cat Tien National Park. We need to take a jeep car for 9 km from the Park headquarters, then walk 5km through the forest to the Crocodile Lake. This walk to this lake gives us the good chance to see the "Black-shanked Douc Langur", one of the most colourful and least known primates in Asia.
Crocodile Lake (Bau Sau) is the second Ramsar site in Vietnam, the wetland ecosystem has an important role in the maintenance and conservation of biodiversity in the region. Here is the home of the species of freshwater crocodile known as the "Siamese Crocodile", once thought to be extinct. This lake also gives us a great opportunity to see "Lesser Adjutant" and "Grey-headed Fish-Eagle", "Osprey" searching for food in the lake. Along the edges of pools and marshes, we may find Cinnamon Bittern, White-breasted Waterhen, Purple Swamphen, Bronze-winged Jacana,...
We also have chance to see the most colourful and least known primates in Asia, the rare "Annamese Langur" and "Buff-cheeked Gibbon".
Cat Tien Grasslands are excellent birding sites to spot the most beautiful and rarest "Green Peafowl".
